A leading electrical power and distribution provider relied on manual methods to measure and assess transformers during the evaluation process. 10Pearls developed a tablet-based spatial inspection solution to accelerate field evaluations while improving consistency and accuracy across inspections.
The organization needed a more efficient and accurate way to conduct transformer evaluations. Existing processes required multiple layers of testing, manual recordkeeping, and on-site involvement from experienced personnel. Evaluators frequently relied on experts to interpret equipment information. Documenting results manually created additional delays and inconsistencies throughout the evaluation process.
10Pearls implemented a LiDAR-enabled inspection capability on tablets that allowed evaluators to quickly capture transformer dimensions, including length, height, and width, directly within the evaluation workflow. By leveraging built-in spatial scanning technology, the solution reduced reliance on manual measurement methods while providing a more consistent approach to collecting equipment data.
The platform also enabled evaluators to capture photographs of transformers and related accessories and digitally document visible damage, rust, and other condition-related findings. All inspection data was consolidated within a unified evaluation experience and routed through an online review portal, where reviewers could validate results as part of a structured quality assurance process. Together, these capabilities streamlined operations, improved data accuracy, and helped significantly accelerate the overall transformer evaluation process.
